MENA Newswire: Dubai, United Arab Emirates – The Zayed International Foundation for the Environment has announced the inaugural Dubai International Conference & Exhibition on Green Artificial Intelligence, to be held on January 24–25, 2026, at the Dubai Police Academy, in strategic partnership with the Dubai Police Academy and Curtin University Dubai.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bin Fahad, Chairman of the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment

Held under the theme “Harnessing Technology to Achieve Environmental Sustainability,” the two-day event will focus on the role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing global environmental challenges, including climate risks, ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss, and the growing environmental footprint of digital infrastructure. Organisers said the conference aims to position Dubai as a leading platform for dialogue and collaboration on responsible, sustainability-driven technological innovation.

The conference will convene international experts from across government, academia, industry, and civil society, including environmental scientists, AI researchers, urban planners, technologists, and policy specialists. Discussions will centre on how AI can be ethically designed and practically deployed to support environmental resilience while minimising energy consumption, water use, and emissions associated with advanced computing systems.

Aligning AI innovation with environmental responsibility and climate awareness.

According to the Foundation, the event reflects its broader commitment to advancing sustainability through environmental technology and innovation. Over two days, participants will explore emerging AI applications in areas such as environmental infrastructure protection, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity monitoring, climate modelling, smart cities, and clean mobility, alongside governance frameworks for the responsible use of AI in environmental decision-making.

An international lineup of keynote speakers is expected to contribute to the programme, including Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bin Fahad, Chairman of the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment; Prof. Dr. Chithirai Pon Selvan, John Curtin Distinguished Professor, Director of Research, Head of School – Science and Engineering, Curtin University Dubai; Dr. Gregory Carpenter, a cybersecurity and submolecular information security expert; Dr. Joseph J. Niemela, Scientist Emeritus at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics; Dr. May Siksik, Co-Lead of the United Nations IGF Dynamic Coalition on Emerging Tech Governance and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innovation Network Global; and Dr. Anour F. A. Dafa-Alla, an author and researcher specialising in AI, data privacy, cybersecurity, and digital content localisation.

Announcing the conference, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Bin Fahad said the initiative reflects a growing global recognition of AI as a strategic tool in environmental protection. He noted that the event aims to bring together leading minds to ensure advanced technologies are deployed responsibly and aligned with long-term sustainability goals, benefiting both present and future generations.

Dr. Hamdan Khalifa Al Shaer, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Committee at the Foundation, said the convergence of artificial intelligence and environmental sustainability presents unprecedented opportunities for innovation. He added that the conference will focus on translating research and policy discussions into practical solutions that support measurable environmental impact.

Prof. Chithirai Pon Selvan said Curtin University Dubai’s involvement underscores its commitment to bridging academic research with real-world environmental action. He highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in accelerating the adoption of AI-driven approaches for ecological restoration and climate resilience.

Key topics to be addressed during the conference include environmental policy and AI governance, combating misinformation in environmental science, AI-powered natural resource management, biodiversity and marine ecosystem tracking, energy-efficient infrastructure, real-time climate modelling, disaster risk prediction, green algorithm design, and reducing the environmental footprint of data centres and AI model training.

The programme will feature keynote addresses, focused presentations, interactive discussions, and networking sessions, concluding with a closing ceremony and certificate distribution. Organisers said the conference represents a significant milestone for global cooperation at the intersection of technology and environmental stewardship, reinforcing the role of responsible AI in shaping a more sustainable future.
